Homemade Dog Treats with 5 Ingredients or Less

With thousands of dog treat products available, you may wonder why anyone would consider making their own? For me it’s because I love making my puppers something extra special from time to time. They love joining me in the kitchen as I whip up their homemade dog treats and then not so patiently waiting for them to cool. I also enjoy knowing that when I make their dog treats, that I’m in control of the ingredients.

Every month I try out a new dog treat recipe for my pups. So if you aren’t one of our Very Important Pups yet, sign-up for my monthly newsletter where I share a treat of the month. The majority of the homemade dog treat recipes that I share are easy to make and require 5 ingredients or less.

Worried about your baking skills, don’t! Even if you’ve never made your own dog treats before, I’d suggest starting with the following recipes. They’re easy to make, even for the novice cook and trust me your dog will be licking their lips and begging for more!

Does your dog love peanut butter?

These Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats are so easy to make. I love that they only use 3 ingredients that we always have on hand- whole wheat flour, peanut butter, and pumpkin puree. And since my dogs are fans of anything with peanut butter, these treats always get 4 paws of approval!

Looking for a grain-free treat option?

We tried these Ginger Apple Dog Treats recently and my pups pawsitively loved them! While you may not have all of these ingredients on hand, trust me it’s worth the trip to the grocery store. Simply mix, roll, cut and bake for 25 minutes and your dog will look at you like you’re the best chef in the world.

Do you find yourself having to pay the cheese tax to your dog?

Then you’ll definitely need to try these Cheesy Bone Treats from Sugar the Golden Retriever. Made with only 4 ingredients that you likely already have on hand, these are incredibly simple and trust me your pup won’t be able to stay out of the kitchen as they smell soooooo good.

The next time you’re looking to give your dog a little extra, try one of these homemade dog treat recipes. I guarantee that your dog will be impressed by your cooking skills, even if your human friends aren’t.
